Detailed Interiors is owned and operated by Steve Matela, a true craftsman with more than 30 years in the construction industry. Perhaps the best way to describe Detailed Interiors is as a niche or boutique kitchen and bathroom remodeling contractor. Over the years Steve and his talented crews have worked on a variety of projects, but their passion is creating kitchen and bath masterpieces.
Today Detailed Interiors focuses almost exclusively on kitchen and bathroom renovations, bringing years of expertise and experience to homeowners and providing a complete design-build solution. Steve and his team take on only a few select projects each year, which allows them to focus on quality and performance, rather than quantity and juggling multiple projects.
One of the ways Detailed Interiors stays detail oriented is by having a small, dedicated team of expert craftsman that are consistent and reliable. When you hire Detailed Interiors, Steve himself will oversee your project — you don’t get passed off to an less experienced project supervisor.
This approach leads to better, more consistent communication with homeowners, and a level of quality that is difficult for general contractors to match. Homeowners who select Detailed Interiors receive incredible value for their investment, a hassle-free construction process and a home that brings joy for decades to come.
Steve Matela started his career in residential remodeling, honing the basic skills of masonry, carpentry, roofing, siding, drywall, and plumbing. He later worked as a drywall finisher for a large commercial general contractor, which required a more advanced skill set and problem-solving abilities. Later work involved historic building renovation and finish carpentry.
Steve started Detailed Interiors in 1996 and immediately found work as a sub-contractor for other builders. Soon homeowners learned of his work and work ethic and his customer base expanded to direct service to homeowners. Steve has continued to pursue professional development and holds certifications as a Certified Remodeler, Certified Kitchen & Bath Remodeler, and more recently, Universal Design Certified Professional. Steve also has obtained all required EPA Lead Paint training and licensing for homes built before 1978.
